Farewell Mrs Boyer

On Tuesday 11 of December glenbrae school had a farewell assembly for our teacher Mrs Boyer we had to sit in rows boy,girl,boy girl ,boy and so on the classes all had items my class rm 10 had three we managed to fit the all in the program my group went well in the assembly so did Keti and Nunia.

Our item was cool except we could not use our music we did a lot of dance move  it was fun
heaps of people cheered we were happy with our dance mrs  boyer had lots of  necklaces on her she must of been really hot I was scared because we had to jump of the stage I fell off  but I did not care I just carried on with my dance.

Yesterday  was announced that Barack Obama was elected to be the president of the united states of america . He was president again in the white house located in Washington DC. He was accompanied by Mitt Romney it was a close one but Obama came out on top he is the President of America  for four years until he comes against  an person who wants a re-election.

Nightmare on Elma street

One Halloween my friends and I were going trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Down the street from us was an old deserted house that everyone thought was haunted. My mother said, "Don't you dare go near that house!" Naturally, her warning made us even more curious. We went to the house and rang the bell. There was no answer. We tried the door. It was unlocked, so we entered the house. The door slammed behind us and...

The door goes smash and there was a dead old man and a dead hockey player. One was called Jason and one was called Freddy. They both hated each other but they always use to spook children and they would never ever go there. Luke and Benny and myself  weren’t scared until that door slammed shut and Luke disappeared into the dark mysterious house.

We walked further and further. It got darker and darker. It went quiet. Then all of a sudden - bang! All the doors opened and we ran like there was no tomorrow. We tried to open the door but one of my friends got dragged back by one of the demons and I cried out “Nnnnnoooo Luke!"
 I cried, "Why did he have to go? It’s not fair! Come and take me."
Luke's mum busted the door down with a kick and she found Luke passed out on the ground. The ambulance came and Luke recovered and we never entered the house again.
One year later, they took down the building and they made it into a baseball field and they all lived happily ever after.

My soil report                                                       March 28/3/12

After studying science for  last few weeks I have learnt about seeds, pollination and different types of soil.
Now we are researching about four questions.


What is soil?

Soil is a mixture of sand, loam and clay that helps plants grow .Nutrients  in the soil come from dead bugs, leaves, twigs and other organic material.There are different types of soil such as loam. Did you know that sand is a type of soil too? Nutrients in the soil come from dead bugs, dead roots, twigs and leaves.

Why is  soil important?

Soil is important because  it keeps trees up straight. Soil is important  because it gives us food like fruits and vegetables. It also is a habitat for invertebrates such as earthworms and cicadas  because cicadas lay their eggs  under ground .

Is soil a habitat?

Yes. Soil is a habitat  for many invertebrates  such as earthworms  and  cicadas. Did you know that moles live in the soil even though they aren’t invertebrates? That is cool . Tuatara live in burrows in the soil to be safe and  they  hide in it too  if predators  come and try to eat them .

How have people affected soil?

People have affected soil  by cutting down our trees.When they cut down our trees the soil gets washed down.  It goes into  clean lakes and then those lakes get polluted  and then our native fish and plants die and that is not good. EWe need trees to clean air. They breathe in our carbon dioxide    and breathe out good oxygen so   please  stop cutting down trees.

The star sharks

One day a mother shark told her baby sharks to keep close to the rocks but as they  were playing, they drifted off into the sea. There  was a giant who goes fishing with a big black net. He went down into the open sea and threw out his net and caught all the little sharks.The god of light felt so sorry that he took the net of the giant and hauled the net and held it up in the sky and the baby  sharks became the seven stars of Matariki and the name of the little sharks are Tohetie ,Toheta,Tapa-nuku,Tapu-rangi,Ururangi and  Waipuna rangi and one of the little sharks remains nameless and any child who feels lonely can name that star and it will keep them company and the little star sharks became Matariki.

Volcanic Simulation

Yesterday we went to the museum.Our group strolled down to the volcanic area and we walked into a lightened room with a couch,tv,big screen,rooms,coffee table and a draw with a vase and in the vase was a flower which had no beautiful flower smell.We sat on the floor which had a rug on it and as soon as we settled down the big screen had steam and the news was on the tv but I already knew  it was a simulation and it soon started to shake it was not scary for me but last time I got really scared.The lightened room became a darkened room and the ash came closer and closer the lights came on and the room shook like we were in an earthquake. Wow   if that was real it would scare me out of my pants . One light came on then one after the other and we all stood up and  walked out of the room.There was fun games and videos we did the [can you pick me up to see how strong you are].The funnest game I played was rock music well it wasn’t rock n roll we made it was  on rocks.Next we went to the polynesian section we learnt about Kiribati and here is two of my notes : te katau ornamental tell belt of coconut shells discs , dolphins teeth nonouti fishing equipment .Fish traps :fishing hats and a bag to carry the eels home.

Classes coming to my class

Today we had a cultural walk about. I was one of the presenters. I had to stay in  class with Bono,Chanel,Voni and Edwina. Our first class to present to was room nine. I was  shy at first but we had a good time sharing our knowledge about Niue Island. Bono's grandfather, Afe Leona, who is on our BOT, helped us.

Family treasure

This is a picture of my brother Tyrone's jacket he was only seven weeks old  when he died .He died of tonsillitis this is the only thing we have of him.

Koro's gift

Moko was going to Koro’s house which is  in Wainuiomata to visit .He said he had a bone carving for moko. Moko’s dad started up the car Moko nearly burst into excited tears. When Moko got to Koro’s house, Moko was the first one out of the car. Moko had a peep through the window and he saw Koro sleeping  with the bone carving resting on his stomach.
When Moko’s dad left to go home, Moko went to bed. He dreamed that the bone carving was stolen. He woke with a scream. Koro rushed into see what the problem was but when Moko saw Koro without the bone carving Moko screamed, “The bone carving is gone’’.
“No,no Moko I don’t wear the bone carving at night .Now go to sleep and have a good rest.”
In the morning after breakfast Koro took me down to the basement. Down there, Moko saw lots of carvings of people and some were made of green stone but the precious ones were made of bone. Koro picked up a bone carving. It looked just like his one except it was smaller. Moko thought to himself, “Is this the one he’s been saving for our family? ”Moko hoped that he trusted Moko and only Moko to look after it.

My dad named me after Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's brother.
Brandon means ‘little raven’ and in english it means
‘hill covered in broom’. I like my name because I am named after my dad’s favourite movie star.
